Marlene Varrenti passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family in her home on Thursday, July 17th, 2014. She was the youngest of 5 daughters. Marlene’s predeceased family members include: her mother, Flora McDowell; father, Louis McDowell; husband, Neil Devenny; and her sisters: Delores McDowell, Isabel Domes and Lela Gunnarsson. Marlene will be sadly missed by her husband, Domenic; her sister, Allie; her children and their spouses: Scott (Sandra), Allen, Darren (Darlene), Carl (Maureen) and Wanita (David); as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Neil, Erin, Adam, Bryce, Shannon, Jenelle, Dylan, Ethan and Jayden. Marlene was a gentle and loving woman. She looked forward to spending time with and nurturing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included ceramics, traveling, visiting with friends and family, playing cards, and dancing with her husband Domenic each Saturday night. She loved animals, and never missed a day feeding the birds, the odd stray cat, and even the neighborhood squirrels. Marlene was a great inspiration. Her positive outlook, contagious smile, and fabulous sense of humor made her the most wonderful wife, mother, and friend. While our hearts are heavy, we know she is in God’s gracious arms. A Celebration of Marlene’s Life will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home. Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene’s name may be made to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation for Palliative Care, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1H3. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. Todd Sjoberg, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
