Marie MacIntyre was born to Peter Bersuk and Matilda Robichaud on Feb. 28, 1941 in Sydney, N.S.
She is survived by three younger sisters named, Anne Gillis, Lucy Muise, Dorathy Bersuk; husband, Norman Murdoch MacIntyre; daughter, Karen Joyce MacIntyre; daughter, Gayle Robin MacIntyre and spouse, Calvin Walper; son, Andrew Scott MacIntyre and wife Jill Klapp; granddaughters, Jordyn, Morgan and Cass; grandsons, Austin and Rhys.
Marie was raised on a small farm in Nova Scotia, later leaving home at sixteen for Boston, Mass. to become a nanny, where she met husband Norman MacIntyre. Following the mining boom of the 1970s, they lived in various communities across Canada until settling in Sparwood, B.C. in 1979. It is here where she enjoyed gardening, spending time with her children, tending to close friendships and crafting with her grandchildren until her sudden passing July 18, 2014. She will be forever loved and remembered by family and cherished friends.
Prayer service will be held July 24th at 7 p.m. Funeral service to follow July 25th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Sparwood, B.C. with a tea following cemetery service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are sent to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
