It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Cathy Swan on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Anna (Murrant) McNeil.
Cathy enjoyed painting, reading, music and gardening. She was very creative and artistic.
She was employed as a personal care worker until her retirement.
Cathy is survived by her two daughters, Briar (Jonathan), Lillianna; her precious granddaughter, Myla; her partner and friend, Ed Fudge. She is also survived by her siblings, Winnifred MacLeod, Joanie (Robert) Hutchinson, Donna (James) Payne, Carol (Arnold) Morton, Janine (Bernie) Brake, Wilfred McNeil, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Jason; partner and Lillianna’s father, Kenneth Morrison; sisters, Beverly Power 'Ginger', Cecella Crago and infant sister, Virginia McNeil.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Lyle officiating.
Donations in memory of Cathy made be made to the SPCA or charity of choice.
