It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dad, grandfather and brother, Peter, July 22, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Peter was born to Peter and Sarah Briggett of North River, Jan. 31, 1931.
Peter worked on the Great Lakes for years before his retirement.
Peter was a special dad and will be remembered by many for his lively conversations with everyone he met. He was very witty and loved to socialize. He always had time to listen or to share memories and jokes with.
He is survived by his children, Diana (Jason) Brown, Sydney Forks, Tim (Donna), Sydney, Carolyn (Bruce) Dorey, Middle Sackville, Quentin, Halifax; six grandchildren, Lorraine (Paul), Theresa (Ken), Jason (Melissa), Shane, Ashley and Peter; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Martha Clarke, North Sydney, Maisie (Cleave) MacLeod, Sydney as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his great friend, Denny (his dog).
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Theresa Briggett (Rozicki); son, Michael; brother, Monty.
Donations in Peter's memory may be made to the VON or St. Mary's Church, East Bay, restoration fund.
The family would like to thank all the VON, doctors and nurses for their wonderful care and a special thank you to nurse Jackie Doucette.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Funeral mass will take place Friday, July 25 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, East Bay with Fr. Frank Abbass officiating.
Interment to take place in St. Mary's Church Cemetery, East Bay and a reception will follow the burial.
