Marie (Lynch) Peacocke

Passed in: Dartmouth
Passed on: July 26th, 2014

Marie (Lynch) Peacocke, We are deeply saddened by the passing of our mother, Marie (Lynch) Peacocke on July 26, 2014. She lived her life with style, purpose and grace. She was an ideal friend — never forgetting an occasion, a birthday or a gesture. She was a devoted grandmother — involved in the personalities, successes and challenges of her grandchildren. She was an especially loving mother and wife — leaving an indelible mark on the people she loved most. So it seems fitting that she suddenly passed from us on a weekend when many adoring friends and relatives gathered to celebrate her 90th birthday at her favourite place — the bungalow in Northside East Bay.
Marie was a golfer, a curler, a bridge player, a community volunteer, a role model and much more. From the time that she grew up in Whiteside, Cape Breton she never saw boundaries. She met each day as a new opportunity to connect with others, to make a difference and to learn something new.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Laura Ullyott (Kevin) of Calgary and Mona Lynch of Halifax. She will be forever remembered by her five grandchildren, Tara (Kelvin Moore), Logan, Brett, Brock and Luke; sisters, Anita Hurd and Jean Jenkins of Brantford Ont., Patricia (John) MacKenzie, Antigonish; her brother, Francis (Brenda) White, Whiteside; cousin, Gerald White (Susan), Grosse Pointe, Michigan, Barbara Peacocke (the late Jerome), Dartmouth, Sean Peacocke (Lindsey), Ian Peacock, Neal Peacocke and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by husbands, John B. Lynch of Sydney and Douglas D. Peacocke of Dartmouth, parents, Mayme (Cameron) and Duncan White of Whiteside, N.S., sisters, Clare McArthur (the late Mike) of Oshawa and Thelma Campbell (John).
Visitation will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George St., Sydney, N.S., Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary's Parish Church, 3944 East Bay Hwy, N.S., on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Marie Peacocke Bursary at NSCAD, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
