Joseph Louis Lucien Laverdiere of Swift Current and formaly of Lac Pelletier district, SK, passed away at the Swift Current Care Centre on Thursday, July 17, 2014. A memorial mass was held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from Christ the Redeemer Roman Catholic Church with Father Richard Jasiak MSF officiating. The Readers were; Danielle Thibault and Robert Laverdiere and the Pianist was Marlene Dolter. The urn bearer was Robert Laverdiere. The interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Lucien was survived by his two brothers: Elphege (Pat) Laverdiere and Andre Laverdiere; a sister Helen (Lucien) Levesseur; a sister-in-law Madeline Rochon and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents: Narcisse and Leda Laverdiere and his two wives: Blanche and Therese, both of whom were sisters (nee: Sylvain). Lucien was born in the Lac Pelletier district (N.W. 4-12-14 W. 3rd Mer.) November 5, 1923. He attended school at Lac Pelletier. He married Blanche Sylvain in 1951 and she predeceased him in 1975. He was married a second time to Therese Sylvain in 1977 and she predeceased him in 2008. Lucien farmed for many years and retired to reside in Swift Current in 1975. He enjoyed working in his shop, doing woodwork and mechanics and loved to play cards. In his memory a donation to Christ The Redeemer Building Fund, would be appreciated by the family.
