Sheila Marion (MacGregor) Johnston

A wonderful wife to Rev. Grant Johnston; beloved mother of Michelle (Keith Young), Angela (Tim Ansems), Nadine; and dearly loved grandmother of Caelin, Russell, Tobi, and Keira. Born in Brookville, Sheila was the daughter of Clarence and Lillian (Ward) MacGregor. She is survived by her twin brother, Glenn (Holly), her sister, Janet MacKenzie (Barry), brothers James (Yvonne d. June 9, 2014) and Sandy (Emily), and numerous nieces and nephews who looked to Sheila as a mentor and role model.
Sheila attended MacLellan’s Brook School, and East Pictou Rural High School. She graduated from the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College and the University of Alberta. Sheila found her calling in life and became a dedicated teacher of students with special needs at Parkholme School and at Greenbriar Middle School in Brampton, Ontario. She was a determined advocate of students with special needs, was generous with her time in supporting her colleagues, and was an artist of considerable talent. Sheila was also a faithful member of North Bramalea Presbyterian Church.
A Memorial Service will be held in St. John’s Presbyterian Church, MacLennan’s Mountain, Tuesday, August 5th, 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Interment will be in Castle Hill Cemetery. Visitation at the church from 9:30 a.m. to the beginning of the service.
If desired, memorial donations can be made to St. John’s Presbyterian Church, or to a charity of one’s choice.­
