BLUE MOUNTAIN, Pictou County – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Dorothy "Dot" Fraser, 71, passed away on July 29th, 2014 at the Aberdeen Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Dorothy was born in Blue Mountain on November 30th, 1942 where she spent the majority of her life raising her family and it's the place she called "home".
She was the daughter of the late Howard and Annie Fraser. She was an active member of her community including the Ladies Auxiliary to the Blue Mountain Fire Department, teaching Bible school, fund raising for anything that they needed to raise funds for. She loved her community and helped out whenever she could. Dorothy was a member of the Knox Presbyterian Church.
Dot's greatest accomplishments in life which she leaves behind, are her three wonderful children: Michael (Sandra), Stellarton; Glen, New Minas and Kelly, at home. She has two beautiful grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Abigail and Andrew; mother-in-law Theresa; siblings; Viola (Sevan), Carmen (Terry), Brent; brothers-in-law: Brian, Alex (Sandra) and George; sisters-in-law: Betty, Thelma and Lynda; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend Betty MacDougall.
She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Andrew, who passed away just six months ago and they will now be together forever. Also predeceased by brothers: Bobby, Jimmy, Donnie, Lloyd, Doug; sister Marie and sister-in-law Flora; father-in-law Gordon and brother-in-law Darren.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Saturday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Knox Presbyterian Church, Blue Mountain with Rev. Jeff Lackie officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Mountain Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Lodge That Gives, Halifax or to a charity of one’s choice.
