Peterborough, NH - Jennie E. Nowell, age 90, of Peterborough, passed away at Pheasantwood Center, on July 30, 2014 after a period of failing health.
She was wife of the late Ralph E. Nowell Jr. who passed away in 1987.
Jennie was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada on December 23, 1923 the daughter of William Smith and Joanna (Ladner) Smith. Jennie attended Prince of Wales College in P.E.I. and taught school there from 1941 to 1944. She wrote several poems about God and nature that were published in the Summerside Journal, P.E.I. Jennie raised her family in Lexington, MA, and later moved to Nashua, NH. She worked many years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Boston, MA.
Jennie is survived by her three children; Randall Nowell of Burlington, MA, Robin Hartery of Milford, NH, and Rhonda Nowell of Brattleboro, VT. She also leaves five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held on August 4, 2014 at 11 a.m., at the Union Congregational Church of Peterborough, 33 Concord Street, Peterborough. The Reverend Jill Small will officiate. The burial will be private for family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Jennie's name to the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
