Obituary: Phyllis Loretta Westlake (nee Thompson), Truro, NS

Phyllis Loretta Westlake, mother of David (Laura) Westlake, Heather (Stephen) Hughes, the late Kimberly (Robert) Lewis and Jeffery Westlake, passed away on August 1, 2014 at the age of 65. She is also survived by her sisters Nora Hemeon and Helen Smith and brothers Burns, Jerome, and Bill Thompson.
Phyllis was predeceased by husband Anthony “Tony”, her parents Sidney and Arella (Belong) Thompson, and sisters Stella Hallett, Hazel Stuart, Annie Wolfe, and Hilda Smith.
Phyllis will also be greatly missed by her three grandsons Justin Hughes, Robbie and Alex Westlake, granddaughter Erin Hughes, and honorary grandson Shawnee.
Born in East Sable River, Phyllis was married to Tony in 1967 and moved to Truro in 1977. She belonged to First United Church and UCW Unit J. She excelled in making crafts, and enjoyed her circle of friends and time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro on Sunday, August 3rd from 6 – 8 pm. A celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held in the First United Church Hall, Prince Street, Truro on Monday, August 4th at 11 am. Memorial donations may be made to the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society.
