GROVER, ERNESTINE GLADYS (nee REID) - Our hearts are broken at the death of "Ernie", August 1st, 2014, at the age of 75. Dear wife to Allison Grover of 57 years and sweet mother to Eric (Suzanne), Scott (Karen), Amy (Ron), and Sandy, and stepmother to Patsy (Snooky), Brock, Fred (Marjorie), and Andy. Predeceased by her son Ernest Bilby; brothers Charlie and Lloyd Reid and sister Grace Jensen and parents, Edward and Marion Strickland Reid. She is now with her mother again who died when Ernie was 7. She is survived by her twin brother Ned (Marilyn) and sister Blanche. She had several grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved and wished to have been closer. A resident of Dorchester since the mid-1960s, she was born in Harbour Breton, Nfld. Over the years, she had been employed as a cleaner, child minder, housekeeper, and did restaurant work from Sydney and Lunenburg, NS to Dorchester, NB. Ernie was feisty. She could fight, argue, and gossip with the best of them, but also liked to talk on the phone, relax, and chat good-humouredly over a cup of tea and watch the world and birds from her kitchen window. She closely followed "Days of Our Lives" and CBC news. She loved fishing trout at Palmer's Pond, especially with her beloved friend Pat Cormier. She was an avid Bingo player and scratch ticket enthusiast. She loved knitting slippers for the RCMP and cooking meals for husband, family, and friends alike. Ernie, you will be profoundly missed. As a long time subscriber to the Moncton Times and Transcript, she especially liked reading the obituaries. Well mom, you made the paper this morning. Never say goodbye, just we love you; 'til we meet and hear your voice, when you speak your mind again.
As requested by Ernie, there will be no funeral service and cremation has taken place. Donations can be made to charities of choice.
