Leonard MacKean

John Leonard MacKean – 65 of Lower Sackville passed away peacefully August 13th, 2014. Born in East River St. Mary’s, he was the oldest son of the late Lawson and Frances (Gunn) MacKean.
Len enjoyed spending time outdoors, socializing with friends, and most of all his best friend and wife Margie.
He always put others before himself and made long lasting impression of what living life to the fullest should be. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandkids.
Len was a longtime employee of the Chronicle Herald, retiring in 2011, after 39 years of service. Len had a passion for painting and reading stories to his grandchildren, especially listening to his granddaughter Hayley singing and playing her guitar.
Len will be sadly missed by his loving wife Marg of 41 years; son Michael (Leah) MacKean; daughter Kathi (Cleveland) Desmond; grandchildren Hayley, C.J. and step granddaughter Clevona; a brother and his wife; his second mother aunt DD; uncle Jimmy, numerous cousins, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, aunts and uncles all of whom were special to him.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held for family and friends in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Donations in his memory may be made to Nova Scotia heart and Stroke Fund.
