Annette DeMont Lewis - 73, of West Berwick, Kings County, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in South Berwick on April 28, 1941, she was the only child of the late Cecil and E. Marie (DeMont) Huntley, Berwick. Annette graduated from Berwick High School and Mack Business College. Prior to her marriage to P. A. "Mannie" Lewis, she was employed in the office of M. W. Graves & Co. Ltd., Berwick. In 1962, she married Mannie Lewis and resided in Weston where they owned and operated a large mixed farming operation. In 1994, they moved to West Berwick and continued their farming business until Mannie's death in 2008. Annette was employed by the Kings County District School Board as a dedicated secretary at the Somerset and District Elementary School for 29 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Berwick United Church, the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture, CAPS, and a former member of the Weston Women's Institute. She was also a volunteer at the former Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick. She enjoyed knitting and the time spent with Mannie at their cottage in Morden. In her earlier years, she was an avid flower gardener, enjoyed travelling and attending antique auctions. Annette will be missed by her cat, Maggie, her loving and constant companion. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Mannie Lewis. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2014, Reverend Leon Langille officiating. A private burial took place in the Berwick Cemetery. Flowers would be greatly appreciated. Donations in memory may be made to the Berwick and District Volunteer Fire Department.
