George met the love of his life Anderine, they wed in December 1962, before setting off on an adventure to live in West Germany, where George was stationed with NATO. Over the years George served with the United Nations (U.N.) peacekeeping mission to Cyprus, and was stationed with the U.N. George left the military in 1968, moving back to Pictou County with his young family, taking a job as a police officer with the town of New Glasgow. Over the next 35 years, George had a diverse and rewarding career in policing, retiring from the Stellarton Police Services in 2003.
