A steadfast warrior throughout her life. Mom modeled the highest standard of principles for healthy living while showing an acceptance for the realities of life. On her journey as wife and parent she experienced both loss and new life. Her new life with Gar remained filled with love to her last day. Mom loved fashion and color preferring to wear her own creations rather than "buying from a store." Betty Walsh always stood out when she entered a room. Over the years Mom loved to bake, cook, clean and to garden. She had a great curiosity for learning about the human condition. She was a recovering person, a friend of Bill W. Mom understood the importance of self expression through art and music. She took time to sing to us as young children while encouraging us to draw, write and to sing. Mom was a woman of faith. She arrived in Antigonish at a young age working at St Bernards under the direction of the Sisters of St Martha. She converted to the Roman Catholic faith and remained true to the christian teachings throughout her life. Aware of her progression of dementia and the need for science to advance in this area of research, Mom requested her body be left to Dalhousie University Research Center.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 22nd at 11 am at Our Lady of Lourdes in Stellarton. Following the service all are invited to join our family and friends for lunch and music at the Sister Catherine Steele Center. Donations in honor of Mom's life can be made to the Pictou County VON or St. Martha's Geriatric Stroke Unit.
