It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother and Nan , Florence (Rose) Matthews age 88 at the Blue Crest Nursing Home in Grand Bank on August 16, 2014. She was the eldest daughter of the late Wesley and Grace (Bungay) Rose. Pre-deceased by her husband Norman (August 16, 2009) brothers, Charlie, Ralph,Gerald, Clyde, and Gordon. Leaving to mourn, daughters, Norma Reynolds (Mike) Nova Scotia, Janice (Rocky) Bishop (Majors), Ontario. Grandchildren, Micheal Reynolds, Timothy Reynolds, and Jillian Bishop(Chris) and great granddaughter Jaidyn Cormier Reynolds (Tim). Brother Ron (Rita) Marystown, Sisters, Gladys Snook, Marie Drodge(Gerry) of St John's, Betty Kent, Bishop's Falls. Special cousin Ada Hollett Grand Bank. Brothers in law Fred Mathews (Betty), Eli Matthews (Margaret) sister in law Lorna Matthews all of Grand Bank.Large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Celebration of Mother's life was held on Wednesday August 20 at 2pm from the Salvation Army Citadel, Grand Bank. Officiating clergy were; Major Phyllis Blundell-Colbourne, Captain Reid Colbourne, Majors Rocky and Janice Bishop. Music was provided by the Salvation Army Band, & String Band. Vocals were done by; Salvation Army Songsters, & Home League. Internment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery Grand Bank. Pall Bearers were; Mike Reynolds (Son-In -Law), Major Rocky Bishop (Son-In -Law), Bruce Matthews (Nephew), Fennie Bungay (Friend), Alvin Roff (Friend), Bill Royle (Friend), & Max Rowsell (Honorary). Removal of Flag & Hat; Gertie Bungay, & Georgie Rowsell. Carry of Corps Flag; Calvin Foote (Flag Sergeant). Special thanks to staff of The Blue Crest Nursing Home for taking such good care of Mother.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home Grand Bank.
