Wile, Julia Alice, 84, of Falmouth, Hants County, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in Northwood Terrace, Halifax. Born on August 12, 1930 in Walton, Hants County, She was a daughter of Alvin and Leila (MacLellan) Burgess. She was a long-time member of the Scotch Village United Church and very involved in the women’s institute. Julia was a member of the Newport Jolly Seniors and for several years she volunteered at the Dykeland Lodge in Windsor. Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth “Anne” (David) Wheadon, Manitowage, Ontario; Valerie (Mike) Porter, Musquodoboit; grandchildren, Mandy, Aaron, Scott and families; five great-granddaughters; sisters, Edna Porter, Marina (Carl) Carmichael , Elsie Hartlen; half-sister, Lillian Merritt, half-brother, Blaine (Helen) Patterson; stepsons, Eugene Wile; Lewis Wile; two stepdaughters; sisters-in-law, Helen Burgess, Dorothy Burgess, June (Clayton) Jodrey , Mildred “Totty” Salter. Predeceased by spouses, Lloyd Salter, Charles Wile, and companion, Fred Cochrane; brothers, Frank, Harris “Bob”, half-brother, Leslie, half-sister, Peggy. Special thanks to the next door neighbors on Green Lane; Northwood Home Care; Northwood Nursing Home Staff and Unit 500 of the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. A memorial service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor. Rev. Debra Mosher officiated. Interment was in the Scotch Village Community Cemetery. Donations in Julia’s memory were requested to be made to “Unit 500” at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, 89 Payzant Drive, Windsor, N.S.
