Paige Prichard Kennedy

Paige Prichard Kennedy

Paige Prichard Kennedy was the eldest daughter of a U.S. Navy test pilot, and grew up with two sisters and two brothers.
As her worldview shifted away from the military values of her upbringing toward one of social and ecological justice, Paige created art as a way to express this evolving vision. Her artwork was a source of wonder and pride to those who knew her. Over the years, Paige’s art was shown in many galleries in Nova Scotia and beyond.
Paige married the love of her life, Charlie Kennedy, in Maryland in 1971. The two emigrated to Nova Scotia and built a home in Pictou County. Their daughters, Logan and Chloe, were born in 1979 and 1984 respectively. An avid gardener, Paige's flowers and vegetables brought joy and health to her family and community. Throughout her career, Paige was an art teacher and a residential support worker with mentally challenged adults. Her spiritual life was rooted in the Quaker Faith, and she served on national Quaker committees for ten years. Paige loved good literature and appreciated the absurd, humorous side of life.
Paige died on August 6th, 2014 due to a terminal illness.
She is survived by her husband, Charlie Kennedy, her daughters Chloe Kennedy and Logan Kennedy, her sisters Polly Lehtonen and Priscilla Merrill, her brothers Reuben Prichard and Richard Prichard and her granddaughter Abigail Unglaub. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A Memorial Meeting for Paige will take place at the West Branch United Church on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 2 p.m.
Donations in Paige's memory can be made to the Quaker Religious Society of Friends, Canadian Friends Service Committee, Amnesty International and the Stephen Lewis Foundation.
