With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Evelyn LeDrew at the age of 89, at Northside General Hospital.
Evelyn was born May 15, 1925, the second youngest child of Leonard Hollett and Leah (Banfield) Hollett.
She married Donald David LeDrew (1925-2012) in 1953.
She is survived by two sons, Clifford (Marla), Lake Paul, N.S., and Robert (Cathy Bennett), Ottawa, Ont.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and sisters, Irene, Mary, Mildred, Margaret and Roslyn (Lennie).
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, by her son Donnie (1979), and siblings William, Clifford, Ada and Verne.
She will be missed by her family, as well as those who helped her maintain her independence after Donald’s death: Donna and Wayne Tobin, Cathy Compton, Earl and Jimmy Stewart, as well as nieces Nancy LeDrew, Beverly Jones, and Lee MacDonald Harding. She was also helped and supported by the Northside Visiting Homemakers and the Victorian Order of Nurses. They cared about her as well as for her, and she and her family appreciate it.
Thanks to those at the Northside General who cared for her in her final few days and to Dr. Michel McKeough for his service and care.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the IWK Foundation.
