The family of Christina Billingsley of Leader, SK announce her passing at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the age of 96 years. Christina “Teen” Billingsley was born at the family home near Lancer, SK on February 18, 1918, the second daughter of David and Florence Nicholson. The family also included a sister, Marion, and a brother, Bill. In 1942 Teen married Herb Billingsley in the town of Empress, Alberta. Herb and Teen had one son, Terrance (Terry) Herbert in March of 1944. Teen enjoyed residing in her home town of Lancer for most of her life. She was a beautiful seamstress and loved to quilt and knit. She enjoyed baking, especially gingersnap cookies and date & nut bread. She always had lovely flowers in her yard and she liked to tend her small vegetable garden as well. Teen was a long time member of the Trinity United Church in Lancer and enjoyed singing in the choir. She always enjoyed the hustle and bustle around Thanksgiving weekend when the Village of Lancer celebrates their Chokecherry Festival. Teen began to spend her winters in the low rental units in Leader and returned to her home in Lancer for the summers. When she was not able to stay alone anymore she moved into Eatonia's Oasis Living Home. She enjoyed her years there but eventually needed to move to the Western Senior Citizen's Home in Leader where she resided until her passing. Teen was predeceased by her husband, Herb;sister and brother-in-law, Marion (George) Hutchins; and brother, Bill Nicholson. She is survived by her son, Terry (Donna) Billingsley of Duchess, AB; grandson,Dwayne (Sherri) Billingsley and great-grandchildren Brayden & Kira of Chestermere, AB; grandson Darcy (Amanda) Billingsley and great-grandsons Ryan & Eric of Calgary, AB; granddaughter, Shawna Billingsley (Gary Lou) of Chestermere, AB; and by grandson Joel Billingsley (Lauren Otto) of Fort McMurray, AB. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Maizie Nicholson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also remembered are special lifelong friends Stan & Mary Bradford, Marie Banman and Shirley Laprise. A Private Family Graveside Service was held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Swift Current.
