James William Duffy

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of James William Duffy, of Charlottetown, at the Moncton City Hospital on Monday, September 8, 2014. Jim was the son of the late Delmar Duffy and Diana Hebert. Jim was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on June 8, 1952. He is survived by his sisters Phyllis (Gord) Simons, Connie Carruthers and Lynn (John) Welcher. Jim was the middle child of seven. He was predeceased by bothers Joseph, Charles and Gerald as well as sister-in-laws Lorraine, Terry and Martha. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In his earlier years Jim was a member of the Nappan Boy Scouts. As a young man he had a passion for singing, cooking and travelling. His love for cooking took him down the culinary road to PEI where his two loves were combined. Once in PEI he never wanted to leave. This brought him to a cooking career at the Wandlynn and Rodd’s Inn and he finally settled in at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church until retirement. Jim will be resting at the Belvedere Funeral Home with visitation on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Friday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. A special thanks to the dedicated medical staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Moncton City Hospital.
