STELLARTON / DARTMOUTH – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Aunt Loretta on September 14th, 2014 in the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Up to her recent hospitalization she had been living in Harris Hall, Parkland at the Lakes, Dartmouth. In 1941 she graduated from the Halifax Infirmary. She worked in Pictou Co. in the Public Health Department. She volunteered at the Pictou Co. Food Bank, belonged to Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church and the CWL. Loretta loved to play cards and even learned how to play bridge while at the Parkland. She was an avid reader and loved to do the Lexicon.
She is survived by her sister Irene (Peter) Lepine of Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Loretta (Campbell) Madden; siblings: Jack (Gladys), Joe (Theresa), Marguerite (Peg), Frank (Patricia), Adrian (Marg), Blaise (Nelson) d’Entremont.
We would like to thank the staff at the Dartmouth General Hospital, Floor 3 East, and the staff at Parkland Retirement Home in Dartmouth for the great care they provided.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 18th from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow the service in the church hall.
No flowers by request. Donations may be made in her memory to the Pictou County Food Bank or to a food bank of your choice.
