Carl Layton Moore

Carl Layton Moore - 78, Shortt's Lake passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, September 13, 2014 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Brookfield May 5, 1936, Carl was the son of the late Bert and Mildred Moore. He spent most of his life in various aspects of the trucking industry including driving the bus for the Disabled Consumer's Association. Carl also drove for Layton’s Taxi for many years. He enjoyed many years as a volunteer, supporter and loyal fan of the Truro Bearcats. As well he enjoyed working the 50/50 draw at their home games. A member of First Baptist Church, Truro, Carl was also an ardent helper with Camp Pagweak. Carl was a lifelong hunter who also enjoyed snowmobiles, motorcycling and his dogs. He is survived by wife Deanna (Irving) Moore; daughters, Debbie (Terry) Keyko, Edmonton, Kimberley (Bob) Henwood, Springhill and Shelley (Steve) Keating, Elora, ON; sons, Carl Junior, George Robert and Charles Francis; grandchildren; Alex, Dwain, Kayla Henwood, Leanne, Nicholas Keyko, Kaili and Andrew Moore; great grandson, Rowan Henwood; sister, Betty; brother, Jimmie. Carl was predeceased by brother, Eugene; sister-in-law, Ruth; daughter, Melody; son-in-law, Michael Crecco; brother-in-law, Ray Carter. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 1 to 2 with a Memorial Service to follow at 2 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Pastor Greg Porter officiating. Interment in Brookfield Westside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Camp Pagweak, c/o Ruth Rushton, P.O. Box 2181, Springhill, N.S. B0M 1X0.
