NEW GLASGOW – Barbara Florence Mosher, 90, of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ray V. and Ethel J. (Crowley) Barker.
Barbara was a faithful member of St. George’s Anglican Church, a life-time member of the ACW and served on various committees within the Church. She was also a member of the IODE Dr. Caroline Carmichael Chapter, New Glasgow for 10 years. Barbara was also a long time volunteer with the Aberdeen Hospital Gift Shop and the Canadian Cancer Society (NS).
Barbara will be sadly missed by her children, Russell (Sandra) Mosher and Ellen (Ross) Bland; grandchildren; Amy (Arthur) Tate, Kimberley and Kent Mosher, Laura Bland (Nelson Worth) and great-grandchildren, Keegan Tate and Ada Worth.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Elwood, brother, Lt. Darrell Barker (WWII), and chosen daughter, Barbie Young.
We would like to thank Dr. Gerry Farrell and all of the wonderful nurses and caregivers on 5 South of the Aberdeen Hospital. The respect, kindness and compassion you showed to our mother during her stay was so gratefully appreciated – You are all Angels to those you care for.
Barbara is resting at the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow with visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 17. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 18, at St. George’s Anglican Church, Temperance Street, New Glasgow, with Rev. Lidvald Haugen-Strand officiating. Reception to follow in the Church Hall followed by committal service in the Abercrombie Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in Barbara’s memory can be made to St. George’s Anglican Church, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice.
