TRENTON – Jessie Elzina Polley, age 101, of the Shiretown Nursing Home, formerly of Trenton, passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 in the Shiretown Nursing Home.
Born in the Magdelan Islands, she was a daughter of the late Rueben A. and Caroline (Clarke) Dickson.
She was a member of the First United Church, Trenton and the Steeltown Friendly Group. An avid card player, she attended card parties five nights a week until June of this year. She was an avid knitter and knitted many things for her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Carole (Pat) McCarron, Stellarton; sons, Sandy (Marjorie), Pictou Landing; Grant (Patsy), Abercrombie; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Myrna Polley.
She was predeceased by her husband Bert Polley, sons, Fred and Donald; grandsons, Blaine Polley and Brad McCarron; sisters, Vina Campbell and Dorothy Fisher; brothers: Allenby “Ted”, Archie, Bob and Wally; daughter-in-law, Diane Polley.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday in First United Church, with Rev. Wade Reppert officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery, Pictou.
