Maurice Gabriel Whiffen

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Maurice Gabriel Whiffen, 63, passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family on Saturday, September 13, 2014. He is predeceased by his parents, Gabriel and Margaret Whiffen, his sister Judy, father in law Arnold Mooney, and brother in law, Brian Mooney. Leaving to mourn is his wife and best friend of 32 years, Hannah; children Kelly, Daniel, Mark (Vicky) and Ryan (Sarah); his three grandchildren, Emma-Raye, Madisyn, and Max; his sister Patsy (Jerry) and his brother Brian. Also mourning the loss of Maurice is his mother-in-law, Ellen Mooney and a large circle of brother and sisters in law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Maurice worked with NFLD Containers for over 10 years and then moved on to form his own business for 25 years, Whiffen & Company. During this time he volunteered countless hours of his time to minor hockey in Newfoundland and Labrador. He later semi-retired and he and his wife Hannah moved to Edmonton to work and travel. A special thank you goes to Dr. Peter Venner, and the nurses and doctors of the Palliative Care Unit of the Cross Cancer Institute of Edmonton Alberta. Cremation is to take place in Edmonton, Alberta with a service held at the Chapel in Caul's Funeral Home on LeMarchant Road at a time to be announced, with a celebration of life at 18 Gladney Street following the service.
