It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear husband, father and grandfather, Wilfred Karl Blackmore, at the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, age 93 years. Predeceased by his son David Robinson "Rob"; parents William and Annie (Andrews); brother William and sisters Adeline and Frances (Gerald Hill). Leaving to mourn, with cherished memories, his loving and caring wife, Phyllis (Woolgar); children Carol (Jeff Lukyn), Bill (Martha nee Bursey), Gillian (Dennis Hogan); sisters Florence (John Pike), Joan (Bernard Thistle, deceased), sister-in-law June Blackmore; grandchildren John and Anna Blackmore, Timothy and Andrew Lukyn; great-grandchildren Ashley, Oliver and Otis Lukyn; cousins, nieces and nephews, and a large circle of friends. Special thanks are extended to the staff of the Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion for their excellent care to Wilfred over the past two years and also to Reverend Sue for her support during his final days. Wilfred was a Master Mariner and an Instructor at the College of Fisheries and Marine Technology, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater on Thursday, October 2 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm, and Friday, October 3, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service to take place at George Street United Church, 130 George Street West, October 4 at 11 am, cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Jim Shields Garden, Caribou Memorial Veterans Pavilion, or to the charity of your choice.
