Mable "Mae" Clara (Parker) (Benjamin) Butler - 98, formerly of Arlington, Kings County passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 in Shannex - Blomidon Court, Greenwich. Born in Arlington on March 1, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Clara E. (Metzler) Parker. She was a member of the Arlington United Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a trustee and was very active in the ladies quilting group. She was instrumental in the formation of the Arlington Cemetery, of which she was a trustee. An avid gardener, she loved flowers, especially roses. She also enjoyed camping and travelling to many parts of Canada and the United States. She is survived by daughters, Donna Joudrey, Cambridge; Janet (Wayne) Mitton, Cambridge; a son, George (Patricia) Benjamin, Look Off, Kings County; foster daughter, Stella (Burton) Spencer, Baxter's Harbour; step-children, Loretta (Roy) DeAdder, South Alton, Mazie Russell, Kentville; Everett (Gail) Butler, Kentville; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Manford Benjamin; her second husband, Gordon Butler; a sister, Elizabeth Parker; two brothers, Raymond Parker and William Parker; two sons-in-law, Milton Steele and Delbert Joudrey; two step-daughters, Ruth Smith and Laura Blenus; a step-son, Richard Butler. Visitation was held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2014 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Murray Shaw officiating. A private family burial took place in the Arlington Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Arlington Baptist Church.
