Muriel "Alma" Colquhoun (Parent)

COLQUHOUN (PARENT) Muriel “Alma” – age 85 of Bridgetown, formerly of Kingston, NS passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born December 10, 1928 in Middleton, Alma was the daughter of the late William Ogden and Daisy Stevens. Alma worked for many years in the Laboratory at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed spending time at her trailer at Bell Bay, Digby County. She will be remembered by her family for her love of knitting and crocheting and her great sense of humour. Alma is survived by her daughter Catherine Parent, Kingston, NS; sons Barry (Dianne) Parent, Stewiacke, NS, Jeffrey (Sandra) Parent, Vancouver, BC and Gary (Sarah) Parent, England; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Alma was predeceased by her first husband Bernard Parent, as well as second husband David Colquhoun; sons Kirby and Gerald. By request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service was held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902)825-3448 with Rev. Robin McCoombs officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton. Donations in memory may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or a Charity of Choice. Alma’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown for their love and dedication to their Mom’s wellbeing.
