Ruth Imelda Murphy (Dalton)

"Cherish Yesterday, Dream Tomorrow, Live Today "

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing for our mother, Ruth Murphy, on Tuesday, October 15, 2014 at the age of 76 years, after a bravely fought illness.
Ruth was the daughter of Helen (nee Holland) and Edward Dalton of Summerside, lived most recently in Charlottetown and formerly of Stanley Bridge, P.E.I.
Ruth has gone to join her partner and "the love of her life" Matt.
She is survived by her loving children, Sheila Murphy (Kip Rosvold), Nora Johnston (Malcolm Shaw), Mary Anne (Alastair) Gilliland, Brendan Murphy (Laura Riser), Mathew, Moyna (Jamie) Matheson; four grandchildren that she loved dearly, Meahgan Murphy, Jason (Candace) Johnston, Elizabeth and Sean Matheson; and great-granddaughter, Mya Speight-Johnston; her sisters, Barbara and Helen (Petsy); her brothers, Gerard, Edward, George and Greg (DeeDee); and many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Canada, the States and Ireland.
"You are our Sunshine" forever remembered for her kind and caring ways, her zest for life and brilliant smile.
Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at St. Dunstan’s Basilica at 10 a.m. Mom didn’t want her life to be remembered in sadness, but rather in joyful celebration. At Mom’s request, in lieu of a wake, please join us for a "Celebration of Life" to be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m. at one of her favorite spots on the water, the P.E.I. Preserve Company, New Glasgow, P.E.I.
If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to one of the following charitable organizations that were near and dear to Ruth’s heart and provided her with comfort in her time of need: The Country Gardens Foundation of Hope Inc. or Hospice Palliative Care Association of P.E.I.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.islandowned.ca.
