Thelma Thompson
THOMPSON, Thelma Bernice - Passed away peacefully in Perth, Ontario on October 20th at the age of 103. She was born in West Paradise, Nova Scotia on October 3, 1911, the daughter of the late Winnifred (Morse) and Frank Messenger. Prior to moving to Perth to be close to her daughters, she was a long time resident of Middleton. Thelma was a member of the Middleton Baptist Church, Past Noble Grand of the Myrtle Rebekah Lodge No. 46, Past President of the Ladies Curling Club, a long time member of the Annapolis Valley Historical Society and the museum's quilting group. For 7 years prior to her marriage in 1935, she taught in several one room schools including Port George, Port Lorne, Brooklyn and Clarence. Lovingly remembered by her family, sons Graham (Sheilah), Middleton, Bud, Windsor, daughters Marie Wilde and Linda (Mike) Selig, Perth, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, her sister Winnie Ferguson, London, Ontario, and sister-in-law Pauline Diadick, Middleton. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence, founder of Thompson's Transfer, sister Edith and brother Kenneth Messenger, son-in-law Donald Wilde and daughter-in-law Betty Thompson. A graveside service was held at the Nictaux Community Cemetery on October 25th. Donations to Middleton Baptist Church or the Annapolis Valley Historical Society would be greatly appreciated.
