The family of Carolyn Dianne Tremain (née Baltzer) regretfully announces her passing on October 24, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born to the late Harold and Mildred Baltzer of Berwick, NS on September 2, 1942, Carol was the eldest of six siblings: Linda Tufts (Berwick), Wayne (deceased), Allen (Edmonton, AB), Jean (Murray) Scotney (Falmouth, NS), and David (Eda) (Stony Plain, AB). Carol leaves behind her husband of 51 years, William, three children, Brad (Todd), Heather, and Tim, and two grandchildren, Ethan and Lauren.
Carol joined the RCAF in 1960 at the age of 18 with a dream of seeing the world, and by 1963 she found herself newly married and living in Germany. She returned to Canada in late 1965 in time to start a family.
In the late 1980s, anticipating an empty nest, Carol did something she’d always hoped to do; she furthered her education. After moving to North Bay, 1988, for Bill to wrap up a 35-year career, she began hers as a real estate agent. She took tremendous pleasure in her new work helping people find homes for their families. They retired together after 5 years in North Bay and moved west to Courtenay BC.
An idle retirement was out of the question; Carol was a doer. She continued to carry on the traditions passed on to her by her mother and was an avid craftsperson. There are hundreds of people she crossed paths with in her life who have homemade treasures made lovingly just for them.
Carol thrived on the west coast. She got involved in the community, taught and developed classes for seniors, and rekindled her love of photography. All of these new interests brought her in touch with a rich circle of friends who were with her until the end.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
