Lacuesta, Dr. Rogelio Loria (Roger) – age 74, of Windsor/Halifax, passed peacefully away on Nov. 10, 2014, at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 13, 1940, in Lambunao, Iloilo, Philippines, he was the 4th child of 10 children of the late Serafin and Felixberta Lacuesta. After graduation from the University of Santo Tomas Medical School in Manila, Philippines, he immigrated to the United States to finish his residency in General Surgery. He then immigrated to Newfoundland, where he practiced in St. John’s and Grand Falls-Windsor for over 20 years. In 1990, he moved to Windsor, NS and joined the medical staff of the Hants Community Hospital. He was a dedicated surgeon and loved to share his passion for medicine with his colleagues, residents and medical students. He was compassionate and loyal to his patients. He was the quintessential General Surgeon. His other passions were his beautiful and bountiful garden which he loved to share, fishing and his unconditional support to his family. Roger is survived by his wife of 49 years, Annie (Lim) Lacuesta; daughters, Dr. Marivi Lacuesta, St John’s, NL; Dr. Gina Lacuesta (Devo), Halifax; Tricia Lacuesta ( John), Vancouver, BC, granddaughter, Pia Lacuesta, Halifax; siblings, Arnulfo Lacuesta, Toronto, ON, Dr. Candelaria Lechoncito, Magdelena Abanillo, Dr. Oscar Lacuesta, and Lourdes Carino - all in the Philippines. Visitation was held 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, November 14, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232) 194 King Street, Box 2218, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0. Funeral Mass was at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014, in St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 339 King Street, Windsor, followed by a reception in the church hall.
