Freeman James Cox
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Freeman James Cox, 64, on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014, at the Northside General Hospital.
Freeman was born in North Sydney the son of the late Freeman and Shirley (MacDonald) Cox.
He was employed with the Public Works Department of the Town of North Sydney and later the Cape Breton Regional Municipality until his retirement. Freeman enjoyed riding his motorcycles and swimming in the summer months. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church.
Freeman is survived by his daughter Tamara (Neil) Ferguson, Sexsmith, Alberta; three grandchildren, Courtney Ferguson, Caitlin Ferguson and Haley Senior; his sisters, Geraldine Timbury, Lois (Dean) MacKenzie, both of North Sydney, Angie (Cecil) Finney, Long Island; three brothers, Tupper (Jane) Cox, James (Ann) Cox, both of North Sydney and Shaun (Heather) Cox, Sydney Mines, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Freeman was predeceased by his parents, his son Freeman 'Bo' Cox, two sisters, Sharon Cox and Betty Cox MacLean, two brothers, George and Russell Cox and a nephew Kenny Timbury.
At Freeman’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation will take place.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Palliative Care of Cape Breton.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
