NEW GLASGOW – Mary Marguerite Robertson, age 93, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at the Odd Fellows Home in Pictou, Nova Scotia.
Mom was born in Stavely, Alberta on March 10, 1921. As a young child, she moved to Liverpool and then to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, where she lived with her parents and siblings until she moved to Halifax as a young woman. It was in Halifax where she met her husband, Edward Robertson, who was waiting to go overseas during World War II. During Dad’s six years in Europe, Mom worked in Halifax. After the war, Mom and Dad moved to New Glasgow. They were married for 69 years. She enjoyed participating in Dad’s hardware and real estate businesses. Mom spent many happy years enjoying nature with Dad and her beloved dogs, at their camp on the East River St. Mary’s in Stillwater. Mom remained at home until she was 89. She moved to the Odd Fellows Home in Pictou where she received the most wonderful, devoted care. We, as Mom’s family, will be forever grateful for the loving home they provided for her during her last years.
Mom was the daughter of the late Leonard and Josephine (Tanner) Feener.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward; brother, Leonard; sisters: Lucille, Myrtle, Agnes, Florence, and by her beloved granddaughter, Ingrid Marie.
Mom is survived by her daughter, Sabrina Rhindress (Paul); grandsons, Land Edward (Heather), and Hans (Jennifer); great-grandson, Blair; sister, Betty, and numerous nieces and nephews.
At Mom’s request, there will be a graveside service at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens in Pictou County, on Friday, November 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating.
Mom’s remains have been entrusted to R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
Donations, if desired, should be directed to the Odd Fellows Home in Pictou or the charity of your choice.
