Ida Maude  Babineau

1921-2014
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ida Maude Babineau, age 93, at the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, on Monday, November 17th, 2014.
Born on April 3, 1921 in Stanley, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Roy and Bertha (Gilroy) Slack.
Ida lived in Sackville, N.B. the majority of her life until 2010 when she became a resident at Sunset Village in Moncton, N.B. She relocated to the Drew Nursing Home on December of 2013. Ida was a member of St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church for over 50 years. She attended Mount Allison Academy and taught school in Stanley, N.S. during World War Two. Ida worked at Carters Flower Shop and Versa Foods over the years, was an avid knitter, loved baking and having large family gatherings. She always enjoyed a good game of cards with her family and friends as well as going camping at Murray Beach for many summers.
Ida will be greatly missed by her loving son, Laurie Allan (Deborah) of Amherst, N.S. her brother, Don Slack of Moncton, N.B.; her sister, Audrey (Don) Thornton of Lakefield, Ontario; her cherished grandchildren, Mary Mona (Rene) Frenette of Scoudouc, N.B., Cory (Vicky) Babineau of Moncton, N.B., Rachel Estabrooks (William Cameron) of Sackville, N.B., Philip Babineau of Amherst, N.S. and Mark (Julie) Babineau of Shediac, N.B.; her great-grandchildren, Skye Ann Babineau, Wesley Estabrooks, Ashley, Alysha, Joshua and Jessica Babineau, Colby and Taylor Babineau, Parker, Charlotte and Benjamin Babineau; brother-in-law, Armand (Eileen) Babineau; sister-in-law, Juliette (Fred) Babineau; daughter-in-law, Bertha (Ronald) Babineau of Shediac, N.B and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Ida was predeceased by her husband Erville in 1982; two sons, Brian in 1957 and Ronald in 2005; grandson, Allan in 1972; sister, Ruth (Charles) Cook and by her brother, Lester (Mary) Slack.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Ida’s wishes, cremation has taken place.Visitation took place at the funeral home on Thursday, November 20th, 2014 from 7-9 pm. The funeral service was held at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church in Sackville, on Friday, November 21st, 2014, at 11 am with Father Carroll officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ida may be made to Saint Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church Piano Fund or to the charity of one’s choice.
