Douglas "Doug" James Robertson

ROBERTSON, James Douglas “Doug” – age 82, Truro passed away on Nov. 24, 2014 in Colchester East Hants Health Center. Born Dec. 24, 1931 he was a son of the late Chris and Alice (Lockhart) Robertson. At a very early age he went to live with his Uncle and Aunt, Norman and Belle (Lockhart) Waller who raised him on their farm in Lower Truro. Doug was a car salesman for many years with Willow Mercury/Casey Ford. He loved to travel the country selling vehicles. For years he had his own contracting business. Later he opened his small candy business making fudge and hard candy varieties and again travelled the roads selling, right up until recently. Doug was a hard worker. He loved his road trips to Cape Breton the most. Doug played hockey in his younger years, coached many minor hockey teams in Truro and remained an avid hockey fan. Doug is survived by his wife Eleanor (McCallum) of 63 years; son, Donnie, (Sharon), Truro; daughters, Janice (Dan) Wile, Waverley, Wendy (Peter) Heckbert, Truro; grandchildren, Evan (Jennifer), Sarah (Warren), Jillian (Christopher), Corey, Scott (Amy), Kari (Ryan), Robbie and Morgan; great grandchildren, Hannah, Alexander, Gabriel, Ryder, Hunter and Kayla; brothers, Owen, Darrel, Ronnie, Roy; sister, Irma. Doug was predeceased by his son, Gary; brother, George; sister, Mary. No visitation or service by request. Interment at a later date. Donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the Colchester East Hants VON. Thanks to the VON nurses who provided homecare support with Doug’s daughter Wendy in his final days at home.
