It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Ray Berthiaume, 64, of Dominion on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Cochrane, Ontario, he was a son of Alice (Bussiere) Berthiaume and the late Herve Berthiaume.
Ray was a member of the former St. Eugene’s Church in Dominion. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 785. He was an honorary member of the Hawks Club.
He thoroughly enjoyed working in his garage, playing golf, darts, cards and chess as well as having a great interest in motorcycles and riding. Most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed their presence.
Surviving are sons, Jimmy (Jennifer), Victor, Craig (Megan) and Raymond Vincent, sister, Lise (Andy) Renaud; eight grandchildren and many extended family members (The Peori Family).
Ray was predeceased by the love of his life, devoted wife, Thelma 'Bea' (Peori) Berthiaume.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and the many patients at the New Waterford Hospital who have supported Ray and became his friend during his time there over the past year.
As per Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church followed by a reception in the church hall. Fr. Dan Boudreau officiating.
