Robert Reid Murray

Murray, Robert Reid “Bob” – 95, Truro passed away at home on December 15, 2014. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Olding and Jean (Reid) Murray. He was educated at the University of New Brunswick and graduated in 1941 with B.Sc. in Forestry. He then immediately went overseas where he served as Second Lieutenant with the Corp. of Forestry Engineers. Bob worked many years in the forestry industry in Nova Scotia and finished his career at Scott Paper serving as Woodlands Manager and Vice-President until retiring in 1981. After retirement he was a co-founder of MacTara Lumber, Middle Musquodoboit. Bob was inducted into the N.S. Forestry Hall of Fame in 2006. He enjoyed many years at his cottage with his family on Caribou Island. Bob was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was at all times a genuine person who was well respected by family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty; sons, Mac (Marylew), Pomquet, Don, Fredericton, Michael (Roya), Truro; grandchildren, Ritchie, Duncan, Peter, Mike, Sarah, Robynne, Nick, Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Aiden, Wil, Molly, Callie, Emerson, Elliott. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joan Scott. Cremation has taken place. No visitation or service at his request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro.
