Passed in: Oakville, Canada
Passed on: December 18th, 2014

Peacefully in Oakville, Ont., shortly after sunrise on Dec. 18, 2014, our mom Catherine 'Bell' Tait passed away with her daughters Ruth and Coreen by her side.
Born in Grand Bank, N.L., in 1921 to parents Curtis and Lillian (Evans) Mullins, she came to Cape Breton at age 11 and fell in love with her island.
Mom spent her life in Bras d'Or, Sydney Mines and North Sydney and in later years Oakville, Ont.
She ran her sewing business firstly from her home and then a successful tailoress shop on Main Street, Sydney Mines.
Encouraged by her husband Henry, she began to paint. Many of her paintings hand in homes of people all over Canada and the U.S. especially in the homes of family and friends.
Together with her husband Henry they raised a family of four daughters and enjoyed sewing for them, camping, hiking and travelling.
She is survived by four daughters, Lillian Gillan, Sydney Mines, Sandra (Warren) Murley, Amherst, Coreen (John) Schempf, Citrus Springs, Fla., Ruth (Frank) Rocchetti, Oakville, Ont.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She loved them all.
Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Minnie MacLean; brother-in-law, Stuart Tait and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Henry, two sisters, Mary (Mullins) Hood, Hazel (Jacob) Jensen, two very young brothers, Jess and Walter, great-grandson Donald Stephen Gillan and a special son-in-law, Donnie Gillan.
During her 93 years, she had many friends and relatives she helped and they in turn helped her. We, her family, are very thankful for all they did for her. Everybody enjoyed the cinnamon buns she delivered, in her favourite baskets, all over Cape Breton.
Bell was a member of Jehovah's Witnesses in North Sydney and later in Oakville, Ont.
A memorial service will be held in Oakville early in the new year.
Memorial donations to a charity of one's choice will be appreciated.
