STROM
James (Jim) Charles Strom, aged 68 years of Moose Jaw, SK was welcomed into heaven by Jesus and his grandson, Owen, on Sunday, December 21st, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Marian; grandson, Owen; and father-in-law, Archie. Jim will be missed by Shelda, his wife of 42 years; sons: Ian (Laurel) and their children Paiton and Tyson, Gregg (Courtney) and their daughters Anika, Maysa and Coralie, Kent (Jasmine) and their daughters Tylar and Charlee; mother-in-law, Annie Hagerty; brothers-in-law: Jim (Merle), Ron (Sharon), Ross (Nadine); sister-in-law, Marg Hagerty; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Halifax, NS and graduated from Dalhousie University. He moved to Moose Jaw in 1972 to work at CHAB. Shortly thereafter, Jim came to faith in Jesus Christ. Then he met Shelda Hagerty, the love of his life. They were married in December of 1972. Jim taught school for 31 years, first in the town of Briercrest and then in Moose Jaw. He worked another 15 years in radio at CHAB and 100.7 FM, where he was privileged to mentor young adults. Jim's love for God was evident in his involvement in both church and community. He volunteered at Joe's Place Youth Centre, where he sat on the board of directors. He encouraged youth and volunteers alike, seeing potential in them. Jim loved his family and was especially delighted at the arrival of each grandchild, taking time to enjoy and entertain them with his particular sense of humour. Jim and Shelda enjoyed travelling to Arizona, going on cruises, but most of all visiting their family. A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held on Monday, December 29th, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the Moose Jaw Alliance Church at the corner of Thatcher Drive and 9th Ave NW. Pastor Dave Wicks will officiate and interment will take place in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s name to Joe's Place Youth Centre, 402 Main St N, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 3K2. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane.
