MacNeill, Frederick “Peter” -80 of Louise Street, Pictou passed away peacefully on December 26, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family. Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late Fred & Hazel (Kiggins) MacNeill. He was a welder in the Pictou Shipyards. Pete is survived by his wife of 55 years Vivian (Laurette), children, Rick (Gail); Lynn (Darell) Nelson; Karen; and Brenda (David) MacLennan. Mampy will be greatly missed by grandchildren, Austin and Arin MacNeill; Heidi and Jennifer Nelson; and Nigel and Riley MacLennan. Pete is also survived by siblings, Laurence “Pie”; Barbara MacEachern; Reginald “Ike” and many nieces and nephews. He was well known for his love and involvement in all sports, a friend to all and the best father, grandfather and father in law anyone could ask for. Pete was predeceased by daughter Leslie; sisters, Ethel and Etta. A “Scent-Free” visitation will be held from 2-4, & 7-9 PM Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday from Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. No flowers by request of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice.
