Frances Thompson

Frances “Robbie” Thompson, 90 of Westville, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born August 8, 1924 in Rocklin, Pictou County, she was a daughter of late Harold and Christine (Marshall) Robinson.
Frances, who was known to her family and friends as "Robbie," lived in Lansdowne, Pictou County in her younger years.
She was a Registered Nurse, having trained at the former Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing. Frances worked several years with the VON in New Glasgow, a year in Amherst Hospital and 15 years at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax.
In 1973, returning to Pictou County, she worked at the Aberdeen Hospital and Private Duty Nursing. Frances was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Westville and the Barbara MacKenzie Auxiliary and Guild; 50 plus year member of the Alumnae of the Aberdeen Hospital; the Retired Employees Association of NS; the Arthritic Association of Pictou County Branch; a Past Matron and member of Westville Chapter #24, O.E.S., and a past District Deputy Grand Matron. For the past two years, Frances was a resident of Glen Haven Manor.
“Robbie” is survived by a son, Bill A. (Beth); grandson, Christopher (Joanne); granddaughter, Cindy; great grandson, Riley; special family, David & Arlene MacRae, Matthew and Daniel, Lyons Brook; brothers in law Allister Thompson, Westville, John (Jan) Thompson, Middleton and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband William "Bill," sister, Isabel MacKay, and foster sister, Doris Barber.
Cremation has taken place. Her family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville.
The Order of The Eastern Star will conduct a service on Tuesday at 6:30 at the funeral home. Her memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday from St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Westville with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment will be in the Auburn Cemetery. www.eaglesfuneralhome.ca
