It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wallace Pyke, 84 of Coxheath, who passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, surrounded by his family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Archie and Bella (Inkpen) Pike.
Wally was a people person and enjoyed helping neighbors, gardening and woodworking. He was a member of the Board of Directors and a founding member of the Coxheath Hill Trails Association. He spent many hours on projects for the hiking trails, chalet etc.
Wally worked for most of his life in the building supplies and sales sector where he had many loyal customers.
Wally is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Andree (Grantmyre), sons, Andy (Donna), Sydney, and Jeffrey, Halifax; grandson Christopher MacNeil, Alberta, and great-grandson Jaxxon MacNeil; sisters, Anna Bella Wambolt, Geraldine Smith, Sylvia (Gordon) Colbourne, Louise (Albert) Broussard, all of Sydney, and Carol (Earl) Jewer, Lincoln, N.B.; brothers, Archie, Edmonton Alta., Robert (Brenda Walsh), George, David (Audrey) and Charles (Gloria), all of Sydney; numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Besides his parents, Wally was predeceased by a sister Ameta Stephens, and a brother James in infancy, sister-in-law Virgina Pike, brothers-in-law, Earl Wambolt and Donald Smith.
As per Wally’s wishes, there will be no visition or service and a family interment will take place at a later date.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Coxheath Hills Wilderness Recreation Association at 1330 Coxheath Rd., Sydney, N.S., B1L-1B3 or to charity of choice.
