It is with heavy hearts, we the family of Ruth (Prosser) Evely announce her sudden passing on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014.
Born in Isle aux Morts, Newfoundland, Mom was the daughter of the late George and Emma (Organ) Prosser.
She lived most of her life in Whitney Pier with her husband and lifelong partner of 67 years, Lloyd Evely.
A devoted and loving mother, Mom leaves behind her eight children: sons, Gary (Elaine), Ron (Joanne) and George (Rhonda); daughters, Ruth(Barry) Sando, Sandra Evely, Beverly (Chris) Tamm, Valerie (Allister Rudderham) Evely and Joanne (David) Pyke. She will be greatly missed by her 14 grandchildren, Jennifer, Shauna, Tracey, Deanna, Lia, Lindsay, Jeff, Jaclyn, Leah, Brad, Craig, David, Erin and Sarah, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mom is survived by her brother George Prosser, and predeceased by brothers, Ralph, Walter, Kenny, Donnie, Randolph (Porky), sister, Loretta. She also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews.
A talented sewer, quilter and baker, Mom had many special friends with whom she shared holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. She was an avid quilter and shared her skill with many in the local community. For many years she was a member of the UCW at Trinity United Church.
At the family’s request there will be no visitation. A service in celebration of Mom’s life will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, 11 a.m., at St. Alban’s Church, Whitney Pier, Archdeaon Brenda Drake officiating with a reception to follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.
