Seward Osborne "Junkie" Armsworthy

Armsworthy, Seward Osborne “Junkie” age 63, Truro, Colchester County formerly of Canso peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Seaward was born on October 10, 1951 in Canso. He was the son of Albert and Dorothy (Rice) Armsworthy. He lived in the Canso area until April 2011 when he moved to Truro. Seward worked at the Canso Fish Plant over 30 years; in the family business Al’s Sons Cabs and Vans and at Bayview Excavators Ltd. He was a voluntary Fireman with the Canso/Hazel Hill Fire Dept. for 38 years; he helped bring the Junior Fire Dept. to Canso; he was a former member of Canso Curling Club and a lifetime member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Canso. Seward was a quiet gentle caring man who loved to help his family and friends through deeds and advice. His love for the sea saw him at every possible moment on Wharfs in Canso and Dover watching majestic moving boats and ships gliding through the water and talking to Fishers about their day’s catch. Seward is survived by daughters Lynette (Cory), Melissa, Granddaughter, the love and light of his life Mikaila Bellefontaine, former wife, Molly; all of Truro; brothers, Adrian (Mary Isabel), Valley, Eric (Marg), John (Mag), Finley (Irene) all of Canso, David (Cheryl), Benalto, AB; sister, Patricia (Jim), Charlottetown; step-sister, Loretta (Gregor) Lambourne, Port Hilford; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his step-mother, Ruth and sister, Annette “Dolly”. Special thanks to Doctor Courtney Smith and Doctor Masoumi, the Palliative Care and Hospice Team for the excellent care Seward received. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dennis Haverstock Funeral Homes Ltd., Canso. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 1, from 2-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 121 School Street, Canso. The funeral service will be held on Monday, February 2, at 11:00 a.m. in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church Canso, with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. Burial will follow in Star of the Sea Cemetery. The family will meet friends for a reception in the Canso/Hazel Hill Fire Department following the service. Family flowers only please.
