Isabel Roach
Passed in: Glace Bay
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Isabel Roach (Mackie). Isabel died peacefully in her home of seven years, Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, at the age of 94.
Isabel was predeceased by her loving husband, John Joseph (Rory) Roach. Before his passing, they celebrated 25 years of marriage, and together raised their loving family in Reserve Mines. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, taking great pride in caring for her family, which included several foster babies over the years. Our mother, a devote Catholic, was a special Lady known as a kind and giving person.
Isabel, the daughter of the late Mary Ann (MacDonald) and the late Patrick Mackie, was born in Gardiner Mines.
She was pre-deceased by brothers Patrick Jr., Daniel, Leonard, John, Bernard, Angus, Thomas, Charles and sister Margaret Noel (Mackie).
Isabel will be sadly missed by her daughter Donna (Eric Cadegan), Glace Bay; sons Brian (Nancey), Halifax, and Doug (Charlotte), Dartmouth. Also, eight grandchildren: grandsons Christopher, Brad, Andrew, Anthony, Patrick, Michael and Rory, and granddaughter Katy. She will also be missed dearly by her sister Alice Kyte (Mackie) and her sister-in-law Marie (Jimmy Nearing).
We the family will be forever grateful to the staff of Seaview Manor for the wonderful care and company provided to our Mother.
A private visitation will be held for the family at Curry’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish in Reserve Mines. The service will be officiated by Father Daniel Boudreau and will be immediately followed by a reception in the Church Hall.
