NICKERSON, Perry Richard – age 68, of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, February 15, 2015 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital with his loving wife by his side. Born in Carleton, Yarmouth Co., N.S he was the oldest son of the late Russell (Duke) and Pauline (Doucette) Nickerson. Perry left school at the age of 16 to join the army in the Engineer Corps then returned home and worked at Dominion Textiles for many years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and photographer in his younger years. He also enjoyed growing and working in his vegetable garden, coin collecting, and especially enjoyed barbequing and cooking for his family and friends in his later years. Perry is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Wallace); brothers, Bruce (Bev), Kentville; Brian (Helen) Carleton; twins Kevin and Calvin of Carleton; sisters, Paula (Jerry) Burgess, Yarmouth; twins, Connie and Bonnie of Carleton; Sherry (Pat) Scott, Argyle; Shelly (Howard Hines), Pubnico; daughters, Marcia, Ontario; Jody, Wedgeport; step daughters, Celinda (Stewart); Bethany (Dan) Cushing, Yarmouth; Francine (Derek) Lessor (Yarmouth). Also survived by step son, Joey Bower, Carleton; grandchildren, Trinity, Autumn, Julia, Janelle, Alana, Ashton, Jaad, Gavin, Sarah (Wade Jacquard); great grandchildren, Ryder and Cadence. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There was no visitation by Perry’s request. A funeral service was held Monday, February 23, 2015 from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Robert Gates officiated. Interment will take place at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations in Perry’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
