Ardythe Iris Arnold - 77, of Grafton, Kings County, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2015 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Born on February 2, 1938 in Berwick, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late William Misner and Louise (Balsor) (Misner) Brown. She was a dedicated provider to her family, friends and neighbours. She loved baking and cooking and was famous for her baked beans and brown bread. Together with her husband, Robert they preserved fruit and vegetables out of their bountiful garden and loved to invite family, friends and neighbours over for homemade ice cream over the winter months. She had a green thumb and was proud of her house plants. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, ceramics, showing their purebred herd of Limousin cattle and square dancing. She worked on the farm all her married life, picking and grading apples, raking and baling hay and the many other duties of a farm wife. She had been employed with Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre for five years and later for Weavexx for 24 years. She cared for her mother and step-father for many years. She cherished her many dear loving friendships and neighbours. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert Arnold; sons, Kerwin (Leah), John (Valerie); grandchildren, Jevon (Carrie), Brenton and Stephen; great grandchildren, Carly and Ella; a brother, Aldrich (Ann) Misner; sisters, Eunice (Art) Patton, Wilma (John) Hazelwood, Wanda Harding (John Cody); brother-in-law, Byron Harding; step-brother, Gary (Katherine) Brown; sister-in-law, Marjorie Carty; an aunt, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her step-father, Morley Brown; a grandson, Daniel Arnold; a brother, Lawrence Misner; a sister, Thelma Fanning; parents-in-law, Brenton and Minnie Arnold; three brothers-in-law, Leroy Fanning, Boyd Arnold and Oscar Carty; many aunts and uncles. Cremation has taken place and it was her request for no visitation or funeral service. A burial service will take place at a later date in the East Black Rock Cemetery. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Dr. Gunn, Dr. Sinclair, Dr. Burgess, palliative care nurse, Katrina Patterson, the Annapolis Valley VON and the staff of Medical B (Valley Regional Hospital) for their compassion and gentle care. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Marg’s Glad Garden or to a charity of your choice.
