It is with great sadness that the family of the late HERB SLANEY of St. Lawrence announces his passing at the U.S. Memorial Health Care Centre in St. Lawrence, on Saturday, February 22nd, 2015, at the age of 82. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Therese of 62 years; sons Gary Slaney of Oakville, ON, Rudy (Karen) Slaney of Calgary, AB, Roger (Valerie) Slaney of Sydney, NS, and Rodney (Barb) Slaney of Paradise; daughters Christina (Jacques) Perrot of Paradise, Lisa (Jim) Loder of St. Lawrence, Sonia (Andy) Slaney of St. Lawrence, and Claudia (Frank) Brockerville of Goulds; brothers Jed (Jean) Slaney of St. Lawrence, Roy (Anne) Slaney of St. Lawrence, and Theo Slaney of St. Lawrence; sisters Norma Farrell of St. Lawrence, Gloria (Gene) Ducey of St. Lawrence, and Joan (Robert) Edwards of North Sydney, NS; Sisters-in-law Sheila Slaney and Margaret Slaney both of St. Lawrence; 18 Grandchildren; 13 Great-grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; Very Special Friend, Mr. Kevin Pike; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents Rennie & Bertha Slaney; sons Herbert & Gerard Slaney; sister Patricia Slaney; and brothers Loyola, Terry, Fabian, Adrian & Ray Slaney.

The Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in St. Lawrence, on Wednesday, February 25th, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. Interment followed at Mount Cecilia Roman Catholic Cemetery in St. Lawrence. In Herb’s memory donations may be made to the CHARGE Syndrome Foundation in honor of his Great Granddaughter Scarlett Jervis.
